Droid Assault
the obligatory "should I get this game?" thread
So, i'm looking for some interesting games, see this one is currently on sale for -2/3 price.
Some questions:
- average game length?
- replay value (is there any reason to play more than one e.g. new game plus)?
- replay differentiation (is there a lot of varied customisation so a replay is different each time)?
- xbox360 controller support?
- any major bugs to worry about? (i have win7-64 mid-high spec gaming rig e.g. runs starcraft2 on ultra)
- general thoughts on the game
Thanks in advance

No 360 controller support yet, that's coming "real soon now" though
Seeing developers active on the forums is always a bonus ;)
Any idea on the other points?

- no known bugs though there is one small glitch under investigation caused by a map error in one of the levels
- game length anything between 1 minute to 1 hour
- it's an arcade game so variation is what you make of it... depends on which droids you capture and which you destroy. Likewise replay is all about score attack once you've beaten all 50 basic levels. Disclaimer: I've never actually managed to defeat my own game, so, meh ;)
- It is of course awesome
- some cool DLC coming
Thanks for the answers, I look forward to playing this game soon :)
I would say yes, have only had one major playthrough so far but it's very enjoyable.
cprince is actually very modest here :) This game is a masterpiece on at least 3 levels: art (graphics, animation, retro spirit), sound (wow!) and gameplay.

The first two you've just got to see. The last one - let me put it this way... I'm a hardcore flight sim player. You know, one of those who only get satisfaction from a game when they start engines up per the real flight manual. And this little gem sucked me all the way in! :)

What really got me was how you discover new and new aspects of the game. At first you're just blowing up stuff. Then... "Oh, so the sensors parameter of a droid means you see further out when controlling it! Oh, and the multicore ones are more efficient in fight." Each time you play/re-play a mission you capture different droids and read about them in the mid-level debriefings. You learn to reckognize them and start to put up a plan on what droids are valuable to you and worth capturing.
