BUG: Can't Get To Second Floor on Ch. 4 "Tension"
When I try to follow the arrow (there are no stairs there) the screen flashes momentarily, after which I find myself in the exact same spot. At this point, the game thinks that I am upstairs, but it is still using the same map as the lower level, so there is no way to progress. Additionally, at this point I can't hit ESC to go back to the title and so I am forced to open the Task Manager and close the game. Usually I see warning dialogs about sprites not being loaded at this point.

Note that I am also experiencing the C++ redistributable issue.

I also am having this issue. I am running Windows 7 inside of a Parallels session if that would cause a problem.
Uh oh, I am also running Windows 7 in Parallels. Guess that doesn't bode well.
Since the first update I've been able to progress by closing the game through task manager and then re-launching it, at which point the next level is unlocked. However, the bug happened again on Chapter 6 with the elevators, and on Chapter 9 with the stairs. That's as far as I've gotten so far.
Same here, i've also noticed that the floor seams to be out of place on some sections, too far to the left or right. Anyone know a fix?

Tried reinstalling it and updating

hey! are you guys booting up windows on a mac? cause that gives the game a few wierd bugs... if you are running on a mac there will be a mac version real soon (just need to port it)

thanks for your time! // dennis
Watch out, I hard crashed doing this and now my entire game is corrupt and pretty much seems to be irrecoverable! I cannot play Hotline anymore.
I'm using Windows xp, the floor is fine on most levels, just a couple
It's good to hear that a Mac version will be released! Thanks again Dennis for being responsive to the issues that come up and all the hard work you continue to put into this game.
Still getting the problem, tried it on two different monitors, still had miss placed floor.

windows xp sp3
Intel Pentium 2.80ghz
ATI RADEON X600
3GB RAM

If that helps!
Welp, that explains it, alas. Good to add to the FAQ I suppose.
I'm getting the same bugs, Ch 4, 6 and 9 when trying to got to the next floor and I'm running Windows 7 on a Sony Vaio. Same thing happens when I try to Esc back to menu, game totally freezes and have to use Task Manager to close. I tried these missions multiple times and it always the same.
No fix for windows users on this?
I'm also having this problem. After clearing the first section and going to where the red blinking arrow is, the game acts like it's transitioning to another room but it doesn't, and I cannot go back and hitting ESC freezes the game.

Windows Vista Home Premium 32-bit
AMD Turion 64 X2 1.9GHz CPU
ATI Radeon X1200
2GB RAM

It's a great game so far, but I'd like to be able to progress further.
Exact same problem. Great game. Does anyone know of any way to edit your save to unlock the following chapters? Not really optimal but beats playing the first few over and over.
Same issue here, but not on all my computers:

- works well at on my computer at work (core i5, nVidia GTX 480, 8gb ram, Windows 7 Pro, screen resolution 1680×1050)

- doesn't work on my home laptop (old hp compaq nx8220, Core 2 Duo, 2gb ram, Windows XP SP3, screen resolution 1280x800)

Have you guys tried to change the screen resolution?

I've read in the README that:
"If you are not able to move between floors in certain levels
change your resolution to at least 1200x768"

Even if my laptop 1280x800 maximum resolution is greater than 1200x768, it might be the cause of the floors transition issue.
