Music Error?

Recently when I start the game I get the error "

ERROR in
action number 1
of Create Event
for object objDevolver:

Error defining an external function.
"

I haven't done anything to mod the game, but when I finally click through that alert I can get in game but the music is muted. I still hear other stuff, but the music which drives this game's pacing is missing. Any help getting it back would be greatly appreciated.

My problem as well, i was really exited to play but that happend and now im lost. Any help?

I got that message, and had a musicless start. I restarted the game, but then only got a black screen. After a couple of black screens and restarts I managed to get the game going, and then after 1/2 hour of play it crashed to desktop. I've been playing the game on and off for the past few weeks and this is new; must be a glitchy update. Please fix soon!

using the beta fixes the music error for most people. I've got the opposite problem though. My music was just fine before I started using the beta, but after I switched to the beta to fix achievement issues, now I'm getting no music -or- sound (I'm also not getting an actual error message)

What beta? There is no beta right now.

There isn't a beta unless you enter the beta password. When you get to the beta tab, enter hlm (That's aitch-el-em, not aitch-eye-em) and it'll open you up to the beta which should solve the problem.

Bane of the Balrog's fix did it for me. If anyone else has problems with the mucis not playing but other sounds worksing, please click on his link and it explains what you ought to do. Thanks to everyone who responded.

There should be a "vcredist_x86.exe" in the "Steam/steamapps/common/hotline_miami/redist".

But anyway, as I said, I recommend you switch over to the beta version of the game (right-click on the game in Library -> Properties -> Betas, code is "hlm"), not only because it will fix this problem (and other bugs), but also because it adds features such as the possibility to change language, resolution, leaderboards...
