Windows 8 update?

I just started playing this amazing game and I am contantly plagued by the game crashing on me. It sucks because I was really enjoying this freaking game and I want to play it! I began looking and it seems windows 8 is the main cause of these crashing issues? I unfortunately was forced upon having this lame ass operating system when I bought this computer, so what is the word on an update dudes!?
