This game is in no way free. You cant even play basic missions and devop further from very basic indeed. Should be called a demo.

You can play basic missions. The single-player campaign is to unlock the rest. You have full access to PvP (which is in an underdeveloped state, but that's another matter) and Warzones, so it's hardly a demo. It might be a starter edition. But you can go beyond the basics, the game itself is basic but again, that's another matter, and you can get access to crafting and such.

You have to get to Rep 25. So lots of PvP first.
