What can I say about Smashmuch Champions? It was one of those games that I truly found myself playing and enjoying every moment of the game. Sure, there were some characters that could be considered far more easier to play and overall they would stomp the other characters in the ground. Yet, there was just something completely charming about this game that had me coming back for more. I would honestly recommend this game to anyone who is a fan of the MOBA genre. The reason why I marked it as not recommended?
The game is no longer in development
One could almost ask themselves why they gave up on a game that was so widely accepted by those that actually took the time to play it. The main reason, I feel, is that the game wasn't as easily accepted as the more widely acclaimed MOBA genre games. With the market for MOBA being currently flooded, many different developers and studios are trying to put their hands in the collective pot.
*And the dreaded Riot
Now that E-Sports is more culturally accepted and more wide spread one can see why so many different developers are trying to work their way into this genre that has some how captured the collective hearts of their players. Free-2-Play is commonly accepted within the genre with a little money that can be used to quickly unlock more character or many times skins which do nothing to help enhance the gameplay accept for the physical appeal of your character. I have honestly dropped quite a bit of money into all the developers and thankfully some of the MOBAs that do not survive in the overcrowded market have made the effort to return what has been heatsinked into their game. I was honestly surprised when I saw that EA had refunded all $100+ that I had put into their 'Dawngate' which was considered a flop. Even with their track record of being considered 'money grubbing', they opened a new eye for me and I would gladly buy more of their games. The reason for this rant, you might ask?
Kiz Studios did no such thing
When I saw the possibility of obtaining every character, every to be character and a bunch of benefits? I was absolutely ecstatic! So much so that I quickly hit submit for the $100 pack which gave so many wonderful things. The part that hit the nail on the head was about a month after I bought this pack, after not receiving my customer avatar as created by their artist, they closed their door. I was absolutely floored at this announcement and it seemed quite a few of the players were outraged from it. They didn't give a straight answer as to why but many have been able to deduce that even with wide spread advertisement, they just were not able to pull in the userbase that they wanted. I felt cheated, in a way, that I had gone so far as to put a quite hefty lump sum of money, for a game, into this and was not issued any sort of refund. I would gladly lose all the perks and such for the game if I could get the money back that I had spent on this pack. Though, maybe there is a ray of light above this pit that I have dug for myself. A certain post of their forums claims, at least since December of 2014, that there might be a revival for this game. There might be chance that the money I put into this was not for naught.
Yet, even with this revelation... I still would not recommend this for anyone.
