And yes, as a player of AOC I would too say, that they draw a different image from what the game looks&feels in real. (as deceiving as adverts for most movies and games)
All images I can see show real ingame graphics as the video does also.
If it looks different as seen there, one has most likely not activated DX10 and high resolution textures in the laucher. The advanced graphics settings ingame also make a big difference in terms of quality and light effects.
I would like to know which MMO does look that much better than this one in terms of graphics?
Regarding the plot, people have different opinions, so no need to discuss that.
The gameplay instead has so many aspects which evolve when playing over a longer period (weeks not hours). I am not sure if it's suitable to say it's just generally bad.
Just for the balance:
Stop Q...
Crysis 3?
Call of Duty x?
Battlefield y?
Please compare it to other MMOs and please set all graphics settings to max.
And yes, it was rushed to the market as so many other games.
The game is less frustrating if you can handle the combat system which is at bit unique.
It takes some patience to learn. Playing together with experienced people helps a lot.
The latter is getting even easier after yesterdays server merges.
Strangely there are hundreds of thousends who can handle the combat system and have fun.
the very first problem was when i tried to use my existing AO account for this game. for what ever reason it wouldn't work, and when i contacted the company for support, i got a form letter that suggested i log out and back in. seems no one even bothered to read it. three more reply emails got me no further, so i just made a new account through steam.
movment controls were wonky. turning while standing still is very quick. turning while running, is excruciatingly slow. looks like between six and eight foot radius.
combat is beyond awkward. accidentaly tapped same attack button twice. still counts as my next attack, even though i hit it durring the cool down. rather than not counting key stroke durring cool down, like most games, it queues them...?
hiding. light meter was non existant. supposedly, it was the jewel at the bottom of the mini map(according to the in game manual). stayed black no matter where i went, or where i started hiding. this could possibley be remedied by un-, then re-installing, but i've decided that only half of that will be needed.
asking for help in new player help chat was beyond useless. and when i voiced my frustration i was met with comments along the lines of, "if you don't like this game then fork off", by the aparently only other two english speaking players.
maybe if they weren't so distracted by the boobies, the develpoers could have put more effort into the game play and coding rather than spending so much time on the mediocre graphics. the different quality settings are like choosing whether the stick that pokes you in the eye is made of pine, oak, or mahogany.
all the people defending this game make me think of the guy who buys an expensive fancy car. then, even though it's in the shop more than it's on the road, still claims it's the best car in the world. i think you guys are really trying to convince yourselves that you didn't waste all that time (and money) in this busted peice of doo doo game rather than the rest of us.
I would like to know how you did that?
Would be very handy to know.
Ups, I never noticed the light meter.
Looks like the conversation went the wrong way. As I haven't seen it, I can not comment on that.
Most questions I observe in the new player help chat usually end with "thanks, I got the answer, please stop sending tells". But that was on our national server till last week.
After our national server (the only national one left) was merged with the US and EU servers, we have to cope with all the english in the chat. Leave alone russion, french, italian, spanish etc.
Doesn't any game from 2008 look that way in terms of graphics?
Especially MMOs from then and ealier?
(They probably were even more distracted by the full frontal nudity they had during devolopment and beta. But some marketing guy started to get anxious about the US market and had them paint some panties on the skins just before release.)
The game can be played for free without any noticable restrictions till level 80.
That's usually a couple of weeks. So enough time to find out if you feel like wasting your time. This is just a personal decision. I mean there are so many games and other stuff which I think are just crap and a waste of time. And still there are others who like those. Good for them. I would not call them idiots. (At least not openly ;) )
The way the world pathing, area to area is setup horrible, the zoning is horrible, the population is horrible due to it being a ghost town. The crafting system is worthless, the PVP mini games are unbalanced, not to mention it takes forever and a day to find a match. The sieges are lackluster, and takes a week in adance to set one up. lol... The combat system gets old and annoying after the first few battles, not to mention your weapon of choice sets about 3feet off your characters back in thin air. The graphics while decent, aren't as good as everyone makes them out to be and they're becoming dated. The auction house has hardly any items on it, and if you list items they never sale... due to game being a ghost twn.
The store items are a joke and way over priced, instead of putting gear/social items on the store? They should have been working on items for ingame. Leveling from 10-80 all your gear looks the same. I don't even need to call this game a failure, everything speaks for its self... it is what it is and I am strongly guessing it will be shutting down in a a couple years for good.
What gets me is they made a secret world, and its more horrible than AoC... figure that one out. This company just needs to forget about creating MMOs, possibly make some phone app games or something... or just retire from creating games all together because they don't know how to create a fun/polished MMO.
Crom/PvE is quite crowded after the merge, which happened just recently.
People runnning around all over the place.
You are forced to team up to kill quest bosses, gather items etc. cause there has always been someone there a few minutes ago and you have to wait for them to respawn.
And if you don't team up with the people already waiting, you have to wait again.
Low level instances are no problem to find groups for anymore.
Raids going on alle the time.
The traders are hard to get near cause it's just so croweded.
The auction house is full of stuff which lowers the prices dramatically.
Sieges going on after the merge cause all guilds had to rush for the battlekeeps and not everyone got one (again).
But it sounds you have been on a PvP server. I have no information what's going on there.
Blood and Glory probably is still dead.
You just have to know where and how to get different looking gear. Doing zones in epic mode delivers nice epic stuff as do epic instances like the sanctum of the burning souls.
But you need a decent group of six or help of a high level player to get those.
#NOTE: Do NOT join the Rage or Fury servers if your looking for a high population, even though as a PvPer I LOVE open world PvP, It seems all of the good guilds transfered to Crom once the server merges happened.
