Age of Conan: Why the PvE grind?!

I recently tried this out, loved the combat and class design, I am just totally baffled that PvP doesn't grant any experience on a PvP server... they advertise the PvP but you're honestly required to PvE grind quests for a good 100 hours before you get to endgame, then grind more for your crap to make you competitive.

I'd probably still be playing this game right now if I could level up through PvP. I'm just all set with PvE grinds in my mmos. So boring.

you can start pvp arenas at lvl 6. and when playing pvp arenas you get pvp points, forget what they are called, which is used to lvl you character as well.

its not like gw2 or a wow tournament server. where you can go to a pvp arena and automatically be top lvl with choice of gear.

It is the more traditional type which might not be for you, So yes questing is nescessary to lvl. but to be honest its not more "grindy" then any other mmo i've played. I got past lvl 20 in like a day or two... and didn't feel like i had to kill the same mob over and over for an hour lol. theres tons of side quests and landscapes and towns which don't feel that repetitive.

Meh, I get that, I dunno, I thought it was advertised as a PvP game, but it's clearly more focused on PvE. It's just impossible for me to get excited about PvE these days. :p

Deathwish server is the harcore PVP server that players when killed can drop an item and money.

Yep, that's what I played, but there's still no way for me to level through PvP. I just don't wanna grind AI mobs, it's not fun. Really wish this game let me do that.

you level pvp levels through the minis , you level the regualr level through pve content. sorry standard mmo.

I hear ya there. PvE sucks. There is some power leveling available on deathwish if you ask the right people.

It was never advertised as a PURE PvP MMO. It just touted awesome sounding PvP features. Personally, having independent experience bars make world pvp work. Without it, nobody would set up ambushes on the road for unsuspecting players. They would all just go to white sands and duel forever.

Eh, just not the game I'm looking for. Even RIFT lets you level up through PvP and that's a PvE game. "Standard" MMO shouldn't be a selling point, lol, and it's not really that standard, as most games with instanced PvP give you experience as well these days.

I get your drift, but pvp aside i wouldnt call AOC a standard MMO. I would probably suggest Guild Wars 2 or Warhammer Online if your looking for a pvp fix. Maybe Dark Age of Camelot if you can stand the visuals.

Yeah I've played all three in the last few weeks, haha. I've been waiting for a game under the name Camelot Unchained. Kickstarter is going up this month. It's a game by Mark Jacobs, the guy behind Mythic for DAOC and WAR. It's going to have exactly 0 PvE, and everything is going to be three realm RvR. It's going to have sandboxish housing system, and everything, all gear, is player-crafted. No auction house. If you want gear, you HAVE TO talk to a crafter. There's a bunch of Foundation Principals on his blog, or you can find em on reddit.com/r/camelotunchained. Excited community over there and Mark Jacobs posts there every day himself.
