Dungeonland and Local Co-op

I really like playing local co-op games with friends, so I was intrigued by the local co-op tag for dungeon land.

However, I'd like to know from someone who has the game how the local co-op works. Is it two players only, or can you do 4 player local co-op with the last player being the dungeon master?

Ok, thank you for replying. I think I might just wait and see what else is in the summer sale, as the dungeon master mode seems like half the fun of the game lol.
