Won't run on my Vista PC - Error code 51

VERY DISAPPOINTED - have tried 5-6 separate installs - same error every time.
Have therefore logged a support call with Steam.
Internet suggests this has something to do with another program clashing with Steam, but as nothing else was running I don't see how this can be the cause.

Don't you have a comptability wizard? http://store.steampowered.com It runs programs like it would in XP.
Many programs had difficulties with Vista.
Other thing you can try is disabling the shift tab function since it won't work anyway in UoC.

Why would I need to use a compatibility wizard for a new game I've just bought from Steam this week?

Cause you didn't read the requirements on PC:

Minimum:

OS:Windows XP
Processor:1.6 GHz
Memory:1 GB RAM
Hard Drive:150 MB HD space
Recommended:

Processor:2.0 GHz
Memory:2 GB RAM

It says OS: XP
Next time try it before you ask.

The game runs just fine on Vista.

This is a Steam issue, not specific to Unity of Command. See here for example:

Well I did a lookup on the internet to see that this code 51 is related to more than some apps that could interfere with steam. Yoda - your comments are totally unhelpful and a disgrace to Steam.
I actually fixed it myself this afternoon by creating my own shortcut from the uoc.exe file, so it's a Steam shortcut issue (which I've advised them), and nothing to do with the game specs as per your comments.
Maybe next time you should think before you type, and not put your foot in it ...

I've some 380+ Steam games loaded on my PC, and none have ever had any such problems before, so it very definitely is nothing to do with my machine specs.

Well, a genius like yourself surely doesn't need a forum like this to solve your problems but you did. It was an unspecified question. It happens people give possible answers and out of them one may be the solution. Shooting on the messenger isn't done on a forum and only adds to your incapability of being grateful which is a shortcoming as a human person.
