Nethergate: Resurrection
If you like this game you'll like...
What games do you like that you feel are somewhat similar? Maybe indie or pixel-based or RPG/TBS/squad whatever?

I really like Spiderweb Software games, but I've also recently discovered Illwinter Games.

If you want another Indie suggestion, and like RPG/TBS games that are pixel not polygon, I like both of the two Illwinter games, especially Dominions 3 (but the one on Steam is Conquest of Ellysium which is a bit less awesome, but still pretty darn good and about half the price or less).

I'm hoping now that CoE is on Steam maybe Dom 3 will follow.

I also recall liking some of the Avernum games.

If you like it then you'll like the old SSI D&D games from the early 90's. These feel like an adaption of that style of game but with a much grander scope.
You would probably like the Baldur's Gate and Icewind Dale games.
Have you tried them?
I played Icewind Dale II, but then going back to Baldur's Gate was too much of a graphics downgrade I seem to recall. I'm ok with 2d graphics, but generic early era 3d is something I don't like too much (I never got a N64). I played games like Stone Prophet and Menzoberranzan though which came before.
I don't think I'll follow thru with this one - love Spidey's games. But Avernum: Escape from the Pit is as retro as I'm prepared to go these days. (Yes, I did the classic RPGs when they were first released Baldurs Gate and before it Might and Magic, Bards Tale etc)

I would do M&M and Bards Tale again (Zeboyd does the look with Breath of Death VII and Cthulu Saves the World - funny tongue in cheek homages), but the isometric style is really unpleasant to me unless they can scale it up properly to my monitor size. I don't mind pixellated graphics, but everything small feels clautrophobic!

Hack, Slash, Loot which is a very unforgiving 8 bit style rogue-like was palatable to me cos I could scale the screen. Blocky is ok... teeny unadjustable blocky isn't!

Also, soz, bit more on topic - If you like this game but want a nicer UI experience try Avadon: The Black Fortress. Probably the nicest of Spidey's interfaces combining retro feel with useability. Keyboard targetting left off this one for some reason, but otherwise v nice. (I've written some thoughts about it on Steam Avadon discussion board in the 'Great game but...' thread re: mood/choices are a bit heavy going).

For lighter entertainment, Avernum: Escape from the Pit (remake of Avernum 1 which was a remake of Exile) is a glorious big dungeon bash.
Games that are very similar to Spiderweb's work are the Eschalon games from Basilisk. Books 1 and 2 are done and the final one will be out soon.
Great bunch of games mentioned here, I know I will be playing some of them again now that I remember them.
Check out Expeditions Conquistador
Too bad the final book in echalon wasn't all the great *sigh*
You guys should also check out lords of xulima.
LOL big time....some of you are really dating yourselves (not a bad thing though). I have played many many older games too.....M&M (all of them). Icewind Dale, Baldur's Gate, and on to Morrowind and the like. It is getting difficult to find newer games which are as entertaining to me. Wish a lot of the older games worked on my pc, but they don't, so, I play what I can find. Avernum was good, and the Geneforge series. Just need something to play at night rather than watch tv!! ;-)
Age of Decadence without a doubt, phenominal game.
