[GUIDE] How to improve performance, change SP FoV and fix mouse lag

Alien Rage config files are encrypted, so you need the bulletstorm ini editor first.

How to disable texture streaming and improve performance:

Launch the ini editor and open
Documents\My Games\AlienRage\SinglePlayer\AFEARGame\Config\AFEAREngine.ini

Find:
"bSmoothFrameRate=True" and change it to "bSmoothFrameRate=False"
"bUseBackgroundLevelStreaming=True" and change to "bUseBackgroundLevelStreaming=False"

Then under “[TextureStreaming]" category, find “PoolSize=150″ and set it to “PoolSize=320″
You can increase this PoolSize even more, but your game may start to crash if you set this to very high value.
Save and exit the editor.

How to change SP FoV:

Open
Documents\My Games\AlienRage\SinglePlayer\AFEARGame\Config\AFEARCamera.ini
with the editor.
Find "DefaultCameraFOV=85" and set it to your preferable value (for example DefaultCameraFOV=100)

How to fix mouse lag:

Open
Documents\My Games\AlienRage\SinglePlayer\AFEARGame\Config\AFEARInput.ini with the editor and change
“bEnableMouseSmoothing=True” to “bEnableMouseSmoothing=False”

same here, didn't work .any ideas when patch might b available? Multiplayer is fine but singleplayer unplayable

Yep MP is fine for me too, No idea the devs are working on the patch so I don't know when it's released, maybe today maybe tomorrow

It's much better with these fixes for me.
Still have some fps drops, but playable. :)

Someone on the RotT 2013 forums came up with setting your pool size to 999999999. Forces the level to load to your RAM and everything runs fine after that. Don't try it if you're not sure on your specs though...
