Why can't I use arrows?

Almost every game ever except for crappy ports let you configure keys and those that don't have the decency to give you a left handed option. Why can't I use the arrows as well as WSAD?

Straight from the developer:

I'm looking at adding an in-game option to rebind the keys but for the moment there is a file called 'keymap.txt' in the directory Gateways is installed in which you can change to redefine the keys.

I used that text file to set the map to tab as well as M.
I was getting fed up with stretching across the keyboard.
It'd be cool if we got a way to bind to mouse 3, 4, and 5, in a future patch.
