Freezing shortly after starting

I'm having a problem with the game locking up a few moments into the gameplay. It lets me get through the menus and such alright, but within a minute after starting the actual game, the screen will freeze and become unresponsive. Though the music continues to play normally. There doesn't seem to be an exact time frame for the freeze, nor does there seem to be any specific triggering event.

There has occasionally been issues with controllers. If you have a controller can you try disconnecting it and see if the problem still persists?

Is there an entry in the Windows event logs for Gateways that might contain more information? I presume you're running the game on Windows?
