age of booty Gamespy id ???
I just bought age of booty and to play it online (wich is the main part of the game) you need a gamespy id. Only problem, they don't exist anymore. How can steam sell games that only work for the half. or is there a way to fix this?

yeah, people really got to read more carefully. just recently (and finally) steam did remove the "multiplayer" spec off the shop page. But with only singleplayer avail (because gamepsy servers shut down), this is really a non-game, since the entire concept was multiplayer :(

Sorry man, that sucks. I thought the single player maps were at least entertaining. Def .80 cents worth of entertaining.

I hope everyone sends a request to capcom to fix this title: support@capcom.com

they have fixed a number of their other titles which relied on gamespy for multiplay, so if enough of us email, perhaps this one will too.

at least it works in lan - but you need the gamespy login emulator: http://aluigi.altervista.org/papers/gs_login_server.zip

wow great. thanks. my lanning group are due to meet this weekend, we'll try it out, and i'll report back if it worked for us.

UPDATE: worked great. no problem. hooray, Age of Booty multiplayer (not online tho, only LAN) is back!!
Warning: one of your lan mates is going to have to be ip-network-router savvy, as even though the instructions are pretty clear, it is not clear for the uninitiated. But our buddy who is very savvy on it (he had to fiddle some advanced router settings), commented that it worked smoothly and well.

i'm going to create a separate discussion for this link cause its so useful.

Me and my wife have separate Steam copies, because it the long past we had played this bunches via LAN with a non-steam version. Would be really nice to be able to do it again :)

games that prevent even local lan gaming should be made to walk the plank.

multiplayer does not mean internet only!

i guess thats the only way they can track you though, unless you are using a modern OS I suppose.
