from a fanboy or average gaming joe perspective, it feels an awful lot like when EA buys small studios (with the promise that those small studios will have the funding they need to realize their vision, same thing facebook is promising here) only to send them to their graves shortly afterwards. i know that sort of situaion works differently than facebook buying oculus rift but it definitely feels the exact same level of disappointment and scumbaggery.
i will just resign to waiting for the asus brand headset to reach the market or some other alternative. finally, after the past couple of generations have dreamed of common and affordable fully realized vr tech; we are just within a few months reach.. the rectum of social media swoops in with billions to repurpose the dream into a nightmare of a locked-in platform for ad revenue.
now that facebook has gotten to carmack, God forbid they should set their sights on gabe newell, valve, and steam.
thus they probably intend to ensure they get the big profits.
People talking as if occulus rift is VR
dis banana knows its stuff
l2 root and unistall it
i know how to do that. rooting to delete or not; either way it serves to make the same point; that facebook, instead of simply extending an offer or granting an option.. it has instead taken the initiative to impose. instead of being declined it must now be circumvented. not to blow it out of proportion but it is annoying.
bananajane, i can stick to calling oculous rift simply a headset or goggles if it makes you feel better. i would probably be unnecessarily extending a spent topic anyway so.. apologies.
