Problems on Windows 8

Does anyone have any suggestions for getting this game to work on Windows 8? I can't get the game to do anything after the first screen where text starts coming up on the screen. Please help if you can!

I am experiencing the same problem with windows 8. the foreground and background layers dont appear to be interacting correctly and i cant make out anything that is happening in the game. My avatar is invisable and i cant navigate the menus

plesae help me fix this as i love horror titles

I cannot start the game. I see only a black screen and my mouse. Cannot kick the game in the taskmanager. Have to restart. My computer: Intel Quad Q9400, AMD Radeon 7950, 4GB Ram, Win 8.1 x64, Catalyst 13.11 beta 6.

UPDATE:
It works now in Windows 7 compatible mode with admin rights. Klick with right mouse on the exe file in the steam folder and set the options and start the game. Have fun!

I have the same problem on Win 8.1
Game starts, but controls are very unresponsive(laggy and when it says "That house... where was I?" the game is stuck.
Does anybody have a solution for this? I paid money for the game, so I want to play it. System is a high end gaming rig from August 2013.

You have to tell about your pc components and drivers. Did you try what i told? I have win 8.1 x64 amd 7950 intel cpu and it worked with it. Did you try full and window mode?
