Try verifying game integrity via Steam, it should help! (Library-TIAoVH-Properties-Local Files-Verify)
Install everything from "InstallUtils" folder, you can find it in the game's library.
Fully exit Steam, including from the Windows Task bar.
Using Windows Explorer, go to the root Steam directory. For most people, this is C:\PROGRAM FILES\STEAM
Delete the following files: "AppUpdateStats.blob" and "ClientRegistry.blob".
Restart Steam
Sometimes files can get corrupted or missing this can cause issues like this.

I have a question about removing the clientregistry.blob.
My Steam games are divided over 2 partitions and one external usb HD. The clientregistry.blob are also in the Steam root directory of these drives, should these files be removed as well?
Maybe, if VH is installed on a non-main Steam disk/partitiondirectory and clientregistry.blob is only removed from the main Steam installation folder this fix won't work?
(btw AppUpdateStats.blob is only in the main Steam root directory)

I have tried all of that and it didnt change anything. I have reinstalled the game even. I even sent in my DX info when asked and they never got back to me. I'm getting very tired of this, how long will we have to wait for a fix so I can play the game again?
fabulist. I make all of he says twice, then send mail to support, still nothing. Funny thing is i buy game, and cant play on my original copy. Illegal copy works great. What are u doing in support ? Mayby working on another DLC ? I want play on steam, earn achivements and i can not do this !!! Wake up people !!!
Okay, it is working again. This is what I did. I deleted the local files through steam first. Then I exited steam and opened the Steam main program file under C: Program Files (x86) and deleted the appcache Folder and closed the window. I started Steam again and went to my Library and right clicked on The Incredible Adventures of Van Helsing and chose properties. Then I went to updates to make sure the auto updates were turned off, and exited. I then picked to Install the game. After the game was reinstalled, I checked again to make sure the auto updates were still turned off and they were. Then I started the game with no problems.
I am going to defrag the games drive and see if I can install the updates now to see if your corrupted file theory is what caused the problem or if it was something else. I will post the results here.
No, I didn't lose my save games, everything is the way I left it. For some reason though, I am not getting updates yet to be able to try that out. I'm beginning to think it might be because I installed the game with the auto updates turned off. I tried exiting Steam and restarting it again, and then I tried verifying the catch files. I thing I will try turning my computer completely of for a few minutes to see if that helps. If not I will just have to reinstall the game with the auto updates on. I will let you know if I do and what happens then.
Saves normally go into the cloud afaik.
You have updates enabled? You've restarted Steam?
Yes, but as I said, I reinstalled it with the updates disabled, and later when I turned them on again, it still won't update.
