Guardian mode stopping after level 38?

I was just now playing Guardian mode, and I was totally expecting to fight a boss in level 39, but the game just kinda stopped when I defeated the last enemy in level 38. Maybe I pressed a funny input right as it was supposed to return control to me or something?

Anyone else have this happen to them?

I can only assume that you indeed hit X or something, because Guardian Mode has 99 levels and its own ending cutscene.

Edit: When you say "stopped", do you mean the game just quit, or it went back to the main menu? Because I can explain the first one: as in a fair number of other doujin games, the Esc key immediately closes the game. Dumb, but true. If it's the second one, I don't have a clue how you managed that.

Good luck with the other 61 waves, anyway.

I cleared the "day cleared" circle and all it showed was just a playing field for me. No "Day 39" banner, no boss; I think the music just kept on going. I could move around, but there was nothing to hit with my attacks.
