Screen auto minimising at launch
Can't find any threads on this issue.....

When I launch the game it seems to be going fine, but then the screen minimises automatically during all the logo/intro stuff. And then continues to instantly auto minimise every time I restore the window. Have tried messing with resolutions both on desktop and in the game config file, but no dice.

Anyone else getting this or have a solution?

Used the DirectX End-User Runtime Web Installer on Microsoft's site, that did the trick. I saw in the Event Viewer that there was a problem with DX 9. The problem went away once I ran the Web Installer. It looks like it installs (or re-installs) DirectX 9 and 11. Maybe 10, too. Anyway, give it a shot. Hope that works for you.
I finally got this fixed but in a wierd way. The DirectX End-User Runtime Web Installer from the Microsoft website didn't help, tried all other suggestions (downloading specific dlls, messing with resolution etc) I could find here with no better results.

However after I installed Lego Marvel Super Heroes the problem was gone. Not much help for those who don't own that, but all I can conclude is that I was missing a file found in Lego Marvel Super Heroes directx version that was not present in the official microsoft version.
The directx thing does not help: it says I already have a newer version installed.
the directx thing didnt work for me either, spinning off ideas i saw

however the next day i turned on my computer gave it a try and it works, it may be a program conflict or something, try restarting then before doing anything else launch the game from steam
I had success by editing the settings file (%AppData%\Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment\LEGO The Lord of the Rings\pcconfig.txt) and changing the existing resolution (1280x720) to my screen's resolution (1920x1080). Hope this helps!

I had the same problem. Disabling the Steam in-game overlay for the game seemed to solve it (right click on the game in your library > properties > general: untick "Enable steam overlay while in-game").
