Need some help with launching.
Okay, so i recently downloaded the game and waited patiently. The game is now sitting in my library begging to be played. To my dismay, when I click to launch the game, the launching window pops up for less than a second and then disappears. Nothing.

I can't launch the game.

same :( i troubleshot it with recommended settings and it ran but it seems to be stuck in windowed mode
I am having the same problems. I deleted the app cache as it said in the help section which did nothing. I am glad I am not the only one having problems. I tried running marvel heroes and that worked fine. not sure why this game doesnt work.

Same here- verified files, deleted files, restarted and downloaded again. Won't launch.
Try deleting the files inside \AppData\Roaming\Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment\LEGO The Lord of the Rings

Quickest way to get to Appdata is to type %Appdata% in Run.

Hopefully that will fix it, if not try reinstalling Direct X from your LEGO LOTR Steam folder.

If that still doesnt work, try deleting ClientRegistery.blob and open Steam.

**Make sure STEAM is not running when doing any of this just in case**
I verified the game files through Steam and it ran fine after that. All operating systems - Verify integrity of game cache

Load Steam
From the Library section, right-click on the game and select Properties from the menu.
Select the Local files tab and click the Verify integrity of game cache... button.
Steam will verify the game's files - this process may take several minutes.
Once the process is completed, the Check Window will automatically exit.

bought the game today, after download complete, if I click on the launch icon or any other launching icon nothing happens

same here....
Same. small window appears very briefly then nothing. tried restarting steam, restarting pc, verifying integrity of game cache, nothing.

I need restart steam and it works. I have the same problem. But with restart it works (sorry for my bad english)

Used the DirectX End-User Runtime Web Installer on Microsoft's site, that did the trick. I saw in the Event Viewer that there was a problem with DX 9. The problem went away once I ran the Web Installer. It looks like it installs (or re-installs) DirectX 9 and 11. Maybe 10, too. Anyway, give it a shot. Hope that works for you.
