Can't change heros

Okay I'm not too sure about this cause I played this way, way back on the 360, and only bought this for the nostalgic feelings; when I'm in the city and when you have to travel to other bits of the map to get the next bit of the main story (E.g Arkham Asylum) whenever I hold down 'Y' to change characters (pretty sure that's what you press to change characters on 360) it doesn't give me the option to. Now I'm asking is, is there a different button to press or do I have to complete the whole entire story to enable this feature?
