Xbox gamepad not registering

I gots a problem.

My xbox controller works on all my other steam games, but not on Super Crate Box. The gamepad option is greyed out. I've reinstalled a few times and experimented with plugging in the controller at different times. I even tried downloading the non-steam version...but to no avail.

Does anyone know how to fix this issue?

SOLVED IT!

I opened start menu
typed in "game controller"
clicked on "Set up USB game controllers"
selected my controller and clicked "advanced"
set my preferred device to my controller.

IT WORKS NOW! woot.

What Start Menu? I dont find where to type! Can you be more accurate please?
My wired 360 controller works fine, the problem is my 360 wireless controller.
Help please!

He means the Windows start menu and searched for game controller - where you can edit the settings for it. If you do that you can test the controller and see whether it works in windows at all, rather than just steam.
