Mouse lags in Windows 8
I just installed WIndows 8 over my old Vista, and after reinstalling Steam and FTL, the mouse seems to have a 0.5-3 sec delay, at which points it jumps to the last position. This makes it difficult to even select from the menu, and impossible to play. I never had this problem with Vista, so something in Windows 8 must trigger this bug.

Has anyone else encountered problems with FTL and Windows8, or should I simply try to reinstall FTL?

Have you've already come to the conclusion that W8 was developed so you can drop the mouse. W8 is nice when you want to touch your screen and keep cleaning it instead of using the mouse.
Bought W8 to game on? You've just trown away a lot of money ...

My old system was more than ready for a reinstall, and W8 being very cheap, I thought I would give it a go. So far FTL lags, Open GL completely fails (my old graphic card is not supported), and old software has to run in compatibility mode.

Still, the faster boot time on the old system means a lot to me, but for gaming W8 does not at all look promising. I really hope Microsoft will add some more backward compatibility in the future - but I am not very optimistic.

Same. And I'm not planning to rollback for one game. I'll wait until they'll support Windows 8.

Here's your problem:
Windows 8.

Anyone else reading this who eagerly want to upgrade to W8 should dual boot it with W7. There are bound to be bugs like this. I'm surprised someone else didn't give you this advice.
also, if you have bought FTL through Humble Store, you can download it for Linux if your Windows is defective. :)
I've also got this problem. Anyone know of a work around?

I currently don't have a free win7 license, and I will sacrifice FTL on my old laptop to avoid Vista. I honestly think that Microsoft is capable of fixing this, or that some idealistic programmer will sacrifice a few nights sleep to save me and PeteBoy from the graphic driver curse of Win8.

...and if anyone finds a way to support OpenGL 2.0 in Win8 with an old ATI graphic card I would be thankful.
I doubt microsoft cares

I had the same problem and fixed it by downloading the new NVidia drivers.

Its not a mouse problem, its a graphics driver problem, as usual the default driver ♥♥♥ ass.

This isn't an issue that is an error in Windows 8...it's an issue with the developer not coding for Windows 8. Has nothing to do with shoddy Microsoft software, but rather the developer not looking into Windows 8. Obviously it's been patched since this thread, but the amount of people complaining about an OS they know nothing about boggles my mind. I have a laptop with Windows 8 (and touchscreen that flips into a tablet), but I've also been running Windows 8 Enterprise on my work computer for 6+ months now without an issue.

Same thing with Vista...people trying to run with crappy hardware and not understanding how it's different.

Spoken like someone who hasn't actually ever used the OS but is simply parroting what he has read elsewhere ...

The upgrade to Windows 8 Pro + Media Center (= successor to Windows 7 Ultimate) is currently 30€ - yeah, that's a lot of money ...

While I don't like the "Metro/Modern Style Apps" on a desktop, that's just a small added and easy to ignore bonus to what is otherwise a brilliant evolution of Windows 7 ...

Are the bugs in FTL fixed for Windows 8 yet? Cause I'm not gonna be buying it if they aren't.
