Game not going past Client?
So I decided to try going back into Mabinogi after not doing so for the last few months and game's not launching. I have Windows 8.1, AVG anti-virus and I've already tried the Nexon Launcher but I have no idea what I need to do to even play this game! It'll load up the Client Launcher, I can click start game and...nothing. No HackShield, no any indicator that it's trying to start the game...nothing.

I'm suffering from this, too. It's so weird; I was playing it last night without issues, but suddenly today, it refuses to launch.

Try disabling AVG, its a known issue that it falsely tags mabinogi, without saying anything.

Alternatively, if AVG offers the option, set C:\Nexon (or anywhere else you installed Mabinogi, for steam it would be something like : C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\Mabinogi) as an exception for your antivirus. It should thus prevent it from flagging and blocking the client, while still retaining it's protection.

Ok so if I do end up doing that, do you know of any good anti-virus programs?

Ok I did try that and I might have to go with Arolust's suggestion of disabling AVG but I kinda wanna get a backup antivirus program just to be on teh safe side. Know any good programs besides AVG?

I personally dont use anti-virus, so I cant really give any suggestions. But you dont have to leave AVG disabled, you can re-enable when not playing mabi.

At the very least you should disable AVG (this is a simple option that most if not all anti-virus software have, and it is safe to disable, viruses can only hurt you through your own actions so long as you only play mabi while its disabled you should be fine) and try to play mabi to see if AVG is in fact the issue, then simply reenable after.
Some anti-viruses even have time based disables allowing for it to auto reenable after half an hour or some other amount of time.

Also, its not a good idea to use two different anti-virus programs at the same time, they will fight one another, and use up more resources.
