Still a few things about this game that I'm confused about.
So I'm really liking the game so far, but there are still a few points that I don't understand. 1: The red bricks. I know you can find them throughout the game and eventually buy the ability to actually use them at the owl emporium, but how do you actually collect them? I've found a couple but all I've been able to do is levitate them around. Is there some ability you need to get later? 2: Selecting playable characters for free-play. How do you pick all the characters you want? It seems like each time you play a level you only get to pick one character slot (possibly two if you have two players). Is there a button I'm missing that lets you select all the characters you want to use? I know that after you start, you can switch out the characters, but they don't all seem to show up. 3: The builder mode. How do you get to it? The game said you can reach it at Gringotts, and I was able to do the tutorials there, but how do you access the actual full builder mode?

Item 1: I'm not sure if I understand your question, but here it is. You need to find red bricks around Hogwarts in free-roam give to an owl sitting nearby and later purchase it in Diagon Alley. The red bricks become useful when you have to replay levels to unlock additional characters, crests and save students in peril. They gives abilities like Invincibility, Fall Rescue, Fast Dig, etc. Also, studs multiplier if you need more money for purchasing characters and other stuff.
Item 2: Nope, there isn't anything else you can do about selecting additional characters. Sometimes some will be missing and you will have to bring the whole list to select it from there.
Item 3: Once you've finished with tutorials you can then play bonus levels 1-10. I believe they can be edited. Try to edit bonus level 1 and go from there. There is no extra builder mode or level.

2: LT & RT. The game automatically choses characters with the necessary ability. (Maybe even through the circular menu - holding "Y".)

There actually is.
Afair you have to complete the bonus level first.

Oh, that makes sense. Thanks.

I worked out how the build mode works. After you beat one of the levels you can go in and edit it. There's even an option under objects to reset the level to a blank slate with just an exit and the start points, so you can start from scratch. And each of the ten levels becomes a save slot for a custom level.
