Functional except some quirk when you hit the breaks, it didnt have all the animation files like the Durandal. https://dl.dropbox.com/u/56831829/valkyrie_mech.jpg

Well I can see why they didn't use the second one, looks like it's straight out of a hippy convention.

Yeah... it doesn't look like that in the art book. I'm assuming it's quite unfinished. Also there's no Stike Suit named the Valkyrie in there either. We've got the Durandal, the Aura, and the Phantasma.

On a side note.

VF-1 Valkyrie
VF-29 Durandal
(I'm just saying. It's funny.)

Well... now that I'm actually looking at the weapons and what not.
VM-EX Excalibur
VM-NB Nineball
VM-GT Glint
VM-SL Saline

The Excalibur, Nineball, and Glint can all be related to mecha from the Armored Core series (Excalibur, Nineball, and White Glint) and the Saline is a missile pack in ACFA as well. Perhaps notably the Excalibur is also the name for the VF-19.

VP-KS Karasawa
VM-MN Moonlight

Are also easily recognizable as names for some of the most powerful weapons of the AC series, the Karasawa guns always being very high power laser rifles and the Moonlight being a very high end laser sword.

Not sure about the Nova, the Comet, and the Mosquit.

Some of the test missions in the levels folder are also interesting. https://dl.dropbox.com/u/56831829/asteroidmission.jpg
A escort mission where you have to protect a freighter inside a asteroid field against swarms of fighters.

... What's with the tests named after people?

Also Test Missile evade sounds like it could be uh... interesting depending on how they felt like testing it.

I'm guessing the colours are to help keep track of the model during development.
Good work

Is that the dropped mission 10?
edit: oh test mission. Is mission 10 in the files there or is it gone?

Mission 10 doesnt seem to work, I just get some kind of screensaver when I load that.
You can try for yourself if you want, I just made a copy of Mission 1, deleted the original content and copied over the test files.

Just make sure to rename the lvl file to 'Mission1.lvl' so that it can load.

The Phantasma suits textures aren't really broken, rather that the fighter/mech transformation doesnt seem to work yet. If you load the phantasma.xml it will operate like in fighter mode, even though it's in mecha appearance.

Hilarious. I'm not at home at the moment so can't check / try this stuff out

Hah, nice finds.

On the subject of textures, has anyone figured out how to open them yet? Even though they are labeled as .DDS, my photoshop chokes on them trying to open them.

It's just zlibbed. If you have a bit of programming skills you can whip up a quick decompressor.

struct CompressedAsset
{
char magic[4] = "RPMC";
unsigned unZLength;
char data[];
};

Hah, unfortunately I do not have any bit of programming skills.

It looks like it's been UV mapped. Probably just needs textures.

The different colours indicate different areas of the model which are then unwrapped onto a flat texture which can then be painted onto.

The textures do work, but it is permanently locked in strike suit shape. Havent really looked into it too much yet, but when I try to existing files that should enable it to transform the funky color version happens.
