Windows 10 crash
The game crashes upon startup. Used to be fine unti I upgraded to win 10. I heard about more people encountering the exact same problem.

This pops up: "The program can't start because MSVCP100.dll is missing from your computer. Try reinstalling the program to fix this problem"

It only happens when I try to play Witcher 2. Other games work perfectly fine.
Trust me, I tried literally everything to fix this. I wrote on the support.

Anyone else has the same problem here? :-)
Thx for any help

The same for me, the game crash at start on Windows 10 (64 bits).
I checked the data and all is OK for Steam.
It worked fine on my old Windows 7...

Crashes everytime after the initial CG on Windows 10.
I've changed the compatibility mode in to XP, Vista, Windows 7 and Windows 8. It just crashes every time.
I've deleted the save files and turned off the steam cloud, crashes.
I've even changed the default GPU, crashes.

Seriously, what else can I do now?!

I found the solution guys! If you have a win 10 go to settings - system - applications and components - Wait a while until the loading finishes and find Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 Redistributable Package. Click on it and click uninstall. Now go to your witcher 2 game files ( should be C: - Program Files x86 - Steam - Steamapps - Common - the witcher 2) now go to redist and install vc_redistx86. I tried literally everything and this was the solution for me. So simple! :P Have fun :-)

What if we have a later version of MVC? 2013 for example

I had all the versions, but it worked with 2010 for me

@Jergi, thanks mate it worked for me (I uninstalled both 64 & 32 as I wasn't sure from the above which one to axe)
*edit: sorry I'm still having the same problem. I got a little bit further into the prologue at least but still freezes completely. You can still hear the ambient sound effects round you. They crash on repeat too eventually

Might be simple, but it didn't solve anything for me. I am running Win 10 Pro 64-bit on a 16GB AMD 8-core 3.6ghz computer with and AMD 2GB card. The launcher comes up but never launches the game.

Re-install the game (move/rename your gamesave folder to be safe before re-install, then move/rename it back after). Worked for me.

Got my version working on WIn 10, went straight to the source http://en.cdprojektred.com/download/ and get the latest patch 3.3 (on the website) but once thats installed the launcher will now be online (Thunderbolt in top left) and will promt you to dl and inst the 3.4 patch. after this no more freezing and lots more sexy rpg action.

I'm on my 3rd re-install of the game... It won't place a shortcut on my desktop (says one already exists). I go to the file source and tried running the exe. file as admistrator and warns me it won't save to cloud.
whatever.
The game won't even launch. Not sure if it's a windows 10 thing or not. I played several hours of witcher 1 with no problems. I uninstalled that and I'm trying witcher 2 again, but I have little hope.
I'll try one of the above fixes if this doesn't work again.

I can't get the game to launch either. I had it working with Windows 10 after i did the upgrade from Windows 8.1, but now it won't work after doing a clean install of Windows 10 on my SSD. All drivers are up to date etc...

One thing i did notice... It now places a Witcher 2 folder in the C:\ root directory instead of in the "My Documents" folder. I tried moving the folder and that didn't work either.

I managed to get it working by disabling Document folder installs to "OneDrive".... Or you could turn off OneDrive altogether.

Please follow this guy's advice but, after doing what he told you to do, go to Microsoft's wbsite and download them again, the actual window error tells us how to fix it "Try reinstalling the program to fix this problem". It worked for me, good luck.
