I checked the data and all is OK for Steam.
It worked fine on my old Windows 7...
I've changed the compatibility mode in to XP, Vista, Windows 7 and Windows 8. It just crashes every time.
I've deleted the save files and turned off the steam cloud, crashes.
I've even changed the default GPU, crashes.
Seriously, what else can I do now?!
*edit: sorry I'm still having the same problem. I got a little bit further into the prologue at least but still freezes completely. You can still hear the ambient sound effects round you. They crash on repeat too eventually
Might be simple, but it didn't solve anything for me. I am running Win 10 Pro 64-bit on a 16GB AMD 8-core 3.6ghz computer with and AMD 2GB card. The launcher comes up but never launches the game.
whatever.
The game won't even launch. Not sure if it's a windows 10 thing or not. I played several hours of witcher 1 with no problems. I uninstalled that and I'm trying witcher 2 again, but I have little hope.
I'll try one of the above fixes if this doesn't work again.
One thing i did notice... It now places a Witcher 2 folder in the C:\ root directory instead of in the "My Documents" folder. I tried moving the folder and that didn't work either.
Please follow this guy's advice but, after doing what he told you to do, go to Microsoft's wbsite and download them again, the actual window error tells us how to fix it "Try reinstalling the program to fix this problem". It worked for me, good luck.
