So, I've just finished the game with Mors, twice. Gave the baby to Varys and then kept it. Phew. I guess keeping the baby isn't so bad, as Mors at least has a chance to live and fight. He seems somewhat happy, or relieved.

But the other one, where he goes back to the Wall... Dude, that was harsh. Patrek is probably my favorite side character (he's the most talkative one and he's got a story, in any case). Mors fought to clean his name within the Nights Watch, and then he goes like "We're all dead anyway buddies, better get used to it, kthxbye" and beheads his former friend without looking at him or having a second thought. Lame.

Now I need to finish as Alester. Not sure whether I'll take a save from the end of chapter 13 or restart with different classes. Probably the former, since I don't think there's much replayability to the game: no matter what you do, the same things happen, except for the endings.

In any case, great game, even though it's clunky at times (like most Cyanide games). The story telling was way above Dragon Age and on par with Mass Effect (less epic, more intense). I wonder if Martin intends to use the game for his books. I know he's got the ending broadly figured out, but I wouldn't mind him putting a Mors Westford somewhere in there, or some rumor about a half-Baratheon, half-Targaryan bastard child. Would be cool. And I think, a great reward for the makers of this way underrated game.

I just completed on Mors when he goes back to the wall. I agree it was harsh and at first thought the guy he beheaded was not Patrek but a model that looked like him - or so I hoped. Something seemed to have died inside him at the end of the game, poor guy. I was really hoping that there was some way Alester would get out of the fact that he had played a hand in Mor's wife's death, but alas, that didn't happen. It was a bit unfair how that was sprung up on me at the end. Both characters had terrible tragedies in their lives and I was hoping for at least a satisying end for both of them. Mors to the wall and Alester back to his city. But in Martin's fashion, somebody you love in the story has to die.

I would absolutely play a sequel to this game. I'm sure many things could be fixed towards the gameplay but the story was the best in any game I have ever played. There were also some great touches i.e. with Brother Martin.

I just finished the game with Alester, both endings. The "Idealistic" ending seemed ok. Not exactly what I had in mind, but I can accept it. However, the "pragmatic" ending left on a sour note and felt flung out of left field like a dead trout. So after telling Mors his soul could handle the burden of guilt, doing the pragmatic thing, and sacrificing the babe to Cercei he just gives up and hangs himself?! I felt that that ending was a bit of slap in the face to the player. A "You choose poorly" bad end in what was up to that point a fairly morally ambigious plot. I mean it's not ME3 but it was still way darker then I expected. I was hoping for a bittersweet ending of Alester agsting about his loses while spreading R'hllor's light and rebuilding Riverspring. At least until all hell broke loose.
Well, deep down, Alester isn't a bad guy. Afterall, he exiled himself out of guilt after killing Mors' family. He may be all arrogant and what not during the final confrontation, he's still the same old dude. In many ways, he's more of a "Loyal Good" guy than Mors (who don't hesitate to kill dudes just because he considers them guilty of something, while Alester always has the option to let people who attacked him go unharmed).

So yeah, I thought Alester's suicide was in line with the rest of the story. He puts an end to his exile to save his family (which get slaughtered partly because of him), betrays and kills his former best friend, and condemns a baby in order to save something that doesn't exist anymore.

And honestly, I don't think it's any darker than Mors' second ending. Mors still lives, but he's done. He's had enough.

Adding Mors deserter ending to the GoT series would be awesome though.
You'd suddenly have a 'true King' in there guarded by someone on the same awesomeness level as Duke Nukem.
