This Has Been Getting On My Nerves..

A while ago I started playing the Midnight Mystery series and started with this game as the Salem Witch Trials appealed to me. However every single time I start to play the game, I find that I cannot even get past the very first scene. The problem I am having is when you are supposed to pick up the ink and pen, I can pick up the ink but cannot pick up the pen no matter what I have tried. And once the game has started I cannot return to the menu unlike other games I have to force close it. Has anyone else experience this problem? If so .. have you found a way to fix it?

Try going to option and click on custom cursor.

I did that too and nothing has worked.

My game runs too slowly. Not sure what's going on there.

Right click on properties, in your steam list, browse local files, click on the *.exe, right click, propeties, set compatablity mode to XP SP3. The game will run at a normal frame rate. This fixed my issue with the game, it may help you. If not then I am not sure how to fix it. I hope this helps you, or anyone else, who happens to have a problem with this gaming running badly.
