[10:59] wippler-workn: IF YOU ARE EXPERIENCING CRAPPY ONLINE, DON'T PLAY WINDOWED. PLAY IN ALT-ENTER FULLSCREEN. IT WILL BE MUCH BETTER.
[11:00] wippler-workn: and tell your opponent.
[11:00] wippler-workn: except you can't :^P
[11:02] wippler-workn: ESPECIALLY if you are NOT experiencing crappy online. It will help your opponents.
[11:02] wippler-workn: Yeah well...apparently there's something wrong with the frame limiting code. >.<
[11:02] wippler-workn: fullscreen will put you at 60hz

Posting this just in case people didn't get the message. Don't play in windowed mode until the bugs have been sorted out. Have fun, everyone.

Ah, thanks for this. Is this what's causing some really jittery online games, even with good-average ping?

Considering the contents of the thread I started, I'm guessing I can't really use this as an excuse for why I lost that match so badly yesterday...

This is super important. I'm still seeing people not playing in Fullscreen online and its unplayable garbage.

Especially important if people are quitting mid-match against you and you don't know why. Playing in anything other then Fullscreen mode can cause massive problems for your opponent with no issues on your end.

On a laptop if I enter exclusive full screen, game becomes too fast for offline play
But if I enter online play does the game revert to normal speed?

Set the game to 'Fullscreen' or use alt+enter to make sure you're in true fullscreen mode and not just viewing the game in a giant window.

It should lock the game to 60fps. If you want to double check, use Fraps or similar program to make sure you're running at 60fps.

Hopefully we'll get a fix for this bug soon.

FYI - IT DOESN'T MATTER IF YOU HAVE A HIGH END COMPUTER. Running the game at faster then 60fps causes the same problems. So make sure you're in Fullscreen mode to lock the game to 60fps.

I heard forcing vsnyc via your relevant graphics card program/utilities also helps but I haven't tested this out in every situation.

You can tell your opponent.

Sorta.

I just started using the tag [FULLSCREEN_HAS_LESS_LAG] to my name in online matches. I suggest doing the same. If you can fit, [FULLSCREEN_HAS_LESS_PROGRAM_LAG] that'd be awesome too.

The more of us doing it, the more people will take note and attempt to follow our advice.

EDIT: I saw that running the game above 60fps will cause issues.

Suggesting the tag [FULLSCREEN_LOCKS_TO_60FPS] instead. if you can fit it, that is.

Point being, we should put tags in our name when we play to notify other people.
