Game dead?
Have they stopped working on this game, and just let it die?

Take a look at the official forums. The game is alive and well and the devs are working on an expansion.

4X games are a niche, so you won't see as much activity on the Steam forums.

Would be nice if the dev's worked on fixing bugs instead... Practically a year has gone by and multiplayer is still unstable as hell.

The game may be alive, in its basic form it is so heavily flawed that I really cannot understand how an expansion could still fix it.

This game completely lacks any sort of enjoyment whenever you play past the first two hours. It sure is endless, alright - endless rinse and repeat of massing ships and endlessly clicking auto-resolve combat. Oh joy.

Well, ES is still a game in progress. Every owner has the opportunity to direct the next add-ons by choice. Just watch the official forum at http://forums.amplitude-studios.com

Besides i see some still not fixed stability issues in the multiplayer, the game is fully directed to play multiplayer. All time-consuming point-and-click things could be auto-resolved as the combat, so one could concentrate on expanding. If you better like games with a huge combat sector, most of them are still only single-player, it would be a idea to watch out for...StarDrive, Sins of a Solar Empire, Distant Worlds. Those games have a complete other setting therefore. I love ES for it's easy playable multiplayer, as this is the main concept of it.

I like ES for the turned based type of game it is. But if you really want a challenge, try X3 Terran Conflict. If you ever played Freelancer, think of X3 as Freelancer on steroids.

I dont see how its so "heavily flawed". I have played over 10 hours of this game and I havent encountered any glitches. I also still find it highly entertaining, despite the slightly bland combat. The game is for some people and not for others, I dont think this game is for you. Try Sins of a solar empire.

There are a few bugs that I've encountered, such as fleets getting stuck due to wierd timing issues (at least that one has a work-around). There's also at least a few flaws (such as fleets getting trapped after a cease-fire -- that one is the worst of them, imho).

That said, I still find the game incredibly fun, and I guarantee that along with new content, there have been regular bug-fixes -- maybe not as fast as you'd like it, but we're not dealing with a triple-A company.

We are working on the expansion pack. For your information, we have released four free add-ons, after the official launch of Endless Space; we are still working on the game and did not abandon it! :)

Edit: we abandoned Endless Space so we could focus on a brand new pony simulator experience. More info coming soon so stay tuned.

Great, so I payed money for a dead broken game.

If you write that you focus on something new, then Endless Space is but death. As for the development of the game, right? In AI, which already cheating on plain and apparent dent bugs present, 30 € to 35 € very expensive. And I wanted to get the game, too bad, I love those games! If I am wrong or what I Got flasch me, corrected me calm. :) Anything with Googel written translator.

Steph'nie was making a joke. Lost in translation I guess. They did not abandon the game, they are working on an expansion.

Forgive my terrible sense of humour, but yeah, see my previous post above, I was obviously kidding. :) We have been mentioning several times (there is even a sticky thread) that we are working on the expansion pack. We'll hopefully give you more details asap (date, price, content and so on).

We did publish a few game design documents to discussed though: several sticky threads at the top of these forums[forums.amplitude-studios.com].

Edit: unicorns.
