"Inability to move, well, anything." - A Review
To be blatantly honest the game is broken. Very broken, for me at least. I got bored today and decided that I wanted to do a custom race with endless war (makes it so that your race cannot have any relation except cold war and war), and see what would happen when you researched all four tiers of research with supremacy as the only victory option.

To summarize, I was very, very bored. After about five hours of terraforming every planet I owned into an ocean and getting my economy to a point of success so far that neither me nor a rock would ever be able to dig out of it, I began to make as many ships as possible. After stacking three hero's onto the nearly three hundred ships and pinning them all onto one planet on the edge of my territory I right clicked the unfortunate little planet adjacent to mine at the other end of the only wormhole I owned. The strangest thing happened:

It wouldn't move. None of them.

It took me about a minute and a half to realize this, of course, as the game isn't truly engaging enough to hold a rats attention for five hours, yet alone mine; but the situation quickly became more frustrating as I realized that every fleet in my arsenal was movement capped. I figured it was a glitch or something, and my planets were pretty much just generating dust anyway, so I just skipped a turn. Nothing.

After trying that a few more times and realizing that there may be something terribly wrong with the game, I looked to the internet. There were a few things about left shift, caps lock, and tab, but none of the scenario's they put forward were in the least similar to mine. In fact, I never even finished my research and wouldn't for at least another 30 turns, so I hadn't broken the game with that just yet.

So, basically, what I get from this whole experience is that even if you play the game for nothing more than research and teching, the game's engine will stick all your ships in the same place anyway. Thus, it can be taken that supremacy victories are therefore impossible and any attempt thereof will always be met with dissapointment.

You would probably be better off just going for peace or something than trying to eliminate your enemies with some sort of cool, space-age combat system, which makes the game unbelievably boring. From what I've seen online there are about 6 different variations to the "i'm stuck, WTF!?!?!" bug, all of which are only similar in the fact that they apparently cause equal amounts of rage in the workplace.

I tried playing this last year but had to stop because of bugs and decided to wait them out (nearly choked on the irony of that one), but I suppose I should just give up on this entirely. This is my review of my entire experience of coming back to the game, of which deserves one only because of how awful it truly was. If anyone can prove me wrong on any account, I welcome it. I like the idea of the game, just not the engine.

On the bright side, I finished my book.

Did you declare? Of course you did.
When I was young and dumb, I too could not move any of my ships to attack an alien planet on the other side of the wormhole. Then a little light turned on that said, "you must declare war" upon them so you can move into their area of influence. And....I did not need to write a book :)
I'm so confused. You played a 4X game, pursued a victory condition you disabled (tech victory), and then complain it was boring? How does this make sense? Generally speaking, the peaceful victories in any 4X will be more boring (read: more end turn spam) than the military ones, simply because those victory conditions often encourage avoiding war and simply building up your empire. If you don't like this, why play in such a way?

You can start fighting early in Endless Space. In fact the cold war system strongly encourages early fights without the need to officially war dec. If you want a military game, play it that way. What you did was basically pursue a tech victory that wasn't enabled (in fact, even a tech victory wouldn't end in all 4 research trees completed), and then when you fully finished all research, you finally started working towards a military victory that you could have started like 20 turns into the game.

I had endless war enabled. That means you can attack anyone at any time.

I was just playing for the hell of it, in fact I was reading a book while doing it. My problem was that I couldn't move any of my ships once I had them in one place.

In my version the trait is Eternal War - Can never be at peace.

That is different than being at war all the time. You must still declare if you wish to move inside an opponents area of influence.

Find some better books.

I will.
Please everyone, there is no need to be that harsh on OP.

On the movement issue: you probably missed the sticky thread and the first paragraph. :/

As for the Eternal War trait, the description does indeed tell you "Can never be at peace." - You still have to declare war on them and can't sign any peace treaty.

I was not harsh on the OP, I was harsh on me when I was young and dumb. Now I'm old and gray and will soon pass away..............
TL;DR: encountered a bug (or just didn't understand gamemechanics), wrote 9 paragraphs about it and called it a review, even doh I describle in detail that I only played a single game with very spesific, unusual settings.

.. can't tell if stupid, or intentionally bad-mouthing
Bah, I guess it's time to close this subject.

If you have any question OP, don't hesitate. :)
