Well, depends on your playstyle. I played the same game--the computer sent 30 fleets into my zone and I wiped them out and took their zone.

So buy this game. It's a good purchase!

meh if you dont know what you are doing this game is hard but once you understand the ai they can be a bit easy to manipulate.:spaceduck:
MTB-Fritz 15/jul./2014 às 22:36
There is no cheating in this game :spacemonster:

Trust me, the only thing is you not understanding the mechanics but the AI doesnt cheat.

This game is awesome, its a great buy.

Though the game is harder to learn for some people (I learned the game in about 3 playthroughs but I play very aggressively so that may be why), the AI really isn't that bad to deal with, and is very predictable prior to Serious difficulty.

can anybody explain why my fleet dont intercept an enemy fleet as they pass through my star system?
MTB-Fritz 17/jul./2014 às 0:15
That depends entirely on your fleet "guarding" or not...its an option you have to activate to block enemy fleets from passing through else they just fly past you. For your fleet to "guard" just click on the fleet and check the available action buttons.

If the AI is in peace with you its fleets will not be blocked by your guarding fleets allowing it to move unhindered over/through systems of yours which DONT have an empire sphere (need an Open Border agreement for that to work)

Maybe this will work in your first one or two games and the AI will catch you off guard. After that you should have enough science and forsight to research a few rows deep into the military tree and build a handfull of cruisers to take them out. At normal and lower once you get bombers it is game over for the AI. Make a decent sized fleet of heavily armed 2 cap ships, stick a pilot/adventure/commander hero on them and send them against fleets that you have the AP advantage over. Use your battle actions and formations properly to give yourself the advantage. A few victories and your hero will make that little fleet amazingly effective (Jana, Serena, or Tulela if you absolutely want to wreck face).

I just convinced my buddy to buy this game and play with me a couple weeks ago (he loves it too btw). Someone who has never played a TBS game like this before. Withing 2 games playing together he had picked up enough to be able to handle Hisshoo/Craver early game blitz without my help. Figure out who your rivals are and plan accordingly. If you are up against highly agressive races then you need to build up your military for defense. Once you have superior tech/cap then go on the offensive and keep them from building more ships to harass you.

EDIT: If you want some advice on military strategy against the AI on normal/easy feel free to add me and I'll be happy to help you.

yeah - its rubbish

I just finished a huge game on Normal playing the Amoeba. The AI was really easy to beat. Also, on the War stuff, I didn't find the AI very taxing. Like Civ V, the AI will go into war and ask for peace without a lot of reason behind it. What I'd do for strategy is when war occurred, move my Heroes into the fleets (those that have flight/combat skills) & then when the AI offered peace, move them back to governor roles.

In the early stages of the game, it's best to try and be diplomatic at first, until you have a good fleet. The best fleets seem to be the smallest ships with maxed out weaponry (either missiles or lasers). Near the end-game, I was cranking out 1-turn dreadnaughts and they just weren't as powerful as a bunch of smaller craft. Probably better for the ground game.

imo the A.I. getting certain bonuses IS cheating, so I feel that this comment is very misleading.

MTB Fritz has stated on a number of threads like this that he doesn't consider bonuses to be cheating, only breaking of game rules. That is his stance on this.
GhostyGG 22/jul./2014 às 6:19
Yes, but I feel that it is completely misleading to say such things to new players. I just feel it will only intensify their frustrations.
MTB-Fritz 22/jul./2014 às 6:25
Well okay if you force me to say:

"The game AI follows the exact same rules and mechanics as the human player"

Then I would like YOU to say:

"the AI is cheating because it gets bonuses which I as the human player control"

As long as accusations are made with a 3liner without much explanation as to how thats meant I will respond in kind....thats fair dont you think?

As long as that is not the case the sentence "The AI is cheating" is as, if not more misleading because it comes from the "wrong" definition of the term cheating.

Endless Space has a learning Curve and frustration is part of that. The "cheating" argument will be rising a few more times I m sure but a simple explanation about how bonuses work with difficulty level selected can clear that up.......or researching a bit on your own of course because the information is freely given on a numerous of sources.
GhostyGG 22/jul./2014 às 6:40
I understand, I rest my case.
