Fooball Manager 2013 is fit for the bin

After the poor, predictable Football Manager 2012, Sports Interactive have threw out Football Manager 2013.

Sadly, this game still uses the same old tricks, in which it will randomly generate results which are not based on tactics, team selection, formation etc. Everynow and then, the game will give you a good run, fooling you into thinking you are the best thing since Brian Clough. Then, for no reason, you will lose not just one game, but ten, maybe more.

This seems to happen at random. Adjusting tactics and dropping and starting different players never seems to work. Eventually, you will find that you have been sacked, so maybe this whole thing is a way of making the game seem more "dramatic"?

In either case, it just doesnt work. The 3D engine looks nice, its certainly an improvement over previous games. But this is it, the game is just broken from top to bottom.

Unfortunantly mate i just cant agree with you. Unlike the previous football manager versions FM 2013 goes into a lot more off the field details that you need to take into effect. When i first bought FM 2013 i was sacked 3 times becuase i tried to play it like FM 2012 but then i started to cover everything and then it started to turn around, i went from getting sacked to winning the Premier League and the F.A Cup. My advice to you is try again with a brand new team and take every aspect into account when picking your team. Good Luck in the future.

Ok, thanks Jake, I appreciate your input. But, have you ever had the scenario where you just cant seem to win a game? no matter what you try? If so, i'd appreciate any advice :)

I've had a few games, I was QPR and had beat arsenal 4-0 and then lost to west brom 3-0. Just can't get into the game. I've been playing the series for 10+ years . This one frustrates me like no other game ever !

Roderz, my first career was with reading i did not win a single game in my first 20 games in charge i eventually got fired from reading. When i was in charge of reading i ignored the opposition and focused just on my team and thats what cost me. When i restarted my career as Norwich i looked at the opposition scounting report and altered my team to attack their weaknesses and trained my players to expose their weaknesses.

An example of this is when i played Chelsea and noticed Mata had 9 assists and 30 key passes in 15 games so i trained my team with a Defense Positioning aspect and put Bradley Johnson a DM on a Marking Focus for the week. When it came to the game i played a 4-2-3-1 with Bradley Johnson man marking Juan Mata across the pitch and played a very wide system with Grant Holt as the Target Man. I ended up winning 2-0 with Mata having no key passes during the game and my other holding midfielder Alex Tettey winning me the midfield battle and sending the ball out wide where grant holt scored me 2 goals.

If you want to be successful you need to attack the oppositions weaknesses their is no point playing a direct passing style against a team of tall players, just be aware of all the factors that contribute to the game and you should do well. Good Luck.

Last season Man City beat Man United 6-1 at Old Trafford. That same season they lost 1-0 to Sunderland.
Man United beat Arsenal 8-1. They lost to Wigan 1-0.
If you watch the Premier League it would be clear to you that football is unpredictable. This happens week in week out in England.

Having fun with it so far... not seeing problems in general apart from the minor glitch. Nyways, I just found out some'n sometimes the confidence of the players and the team is to blame. There's no use teling your players they suck everytime they lose if they continue loosing. It affects their confidence (doesn't neccesarily mean morale) and they play even worse. Wonder why a team like barcelona are so tight and cordinated? they're made to believe they're the best thing since sliced bread.
