Penalized For Minor Failures
I find it too easy in this game to get into suffering situations. What I mean is that I'll be down to my last weapon at parts of the song where the enemies are just too damn tough to kill any of them.

Thus I can get so inspiration to repair my ship.

Thus I must commit suicide.

This could be solved by regenerating health. I'd imagine the best way to go about this would be to have your ship regenerate health when you are not firing any weapons.

As it is, I get hit, am down to one weapon, and have to commit suicide or have no reason to continue playing the level as I can't kill anyone. It's like in Super Mario where you get hit by an enemy just to fall off the level and lose a life. It's punishing enough to lose damage output, it's unforgiving to force suicide (and lose more points) after I just lost damage output.

Crashing your ship is hardly a minor failure.

What weapons do you use?

Megablaster fury, blaster, then two megablaster.

I'm speaking of just crashing part of the ship where you just have 1 or even 2 weapons. I find it impossible to kill anything to earn inspiration to repair. Therefore I have to commit suicide.

I knew what you meant.

I'm going to guess you're not too far into the game seeing as how you still have a default blaster equipped. Otherwise you should really consider picking another weapon. I know I've read that a lot of people seem to be in love with the megablaster, but I don't think it's the end all be all. You should experiment until you find a setup that gets you through.

I've been in that situation where I've got only 1/4 of a ship left. Yes, sometimes it's just too much and you wind up eating the death, but there are times where you can bounce back. A little persistence, no?

Sure, I just felt like the situation occured to much and it's one of the few bad designs in this game.

Eh, I prefer not having to calculate when to fire a crescendo, shotguns I find useless (at leve l1 anyway), double blasters are okay I suppose.

Either way, I like the score multiplier which is why I don't use teh elite build.

try getting the double blasters to level 2 and pairing them with the scatter shot guns in the middle. That carried me until about the second symphony piece
