Indie Game: The Movie

The cost of this and the fact it has DLC is honestly ironic.
You'd think a movie about indie devs would be more of an informative medium about what it's like to be an indie developer, rather than being a cash cow for obsessive people who feel like buying DLC to a MOVIE.

I miss the times when they gave you a product when you purchased it, and as the developers had no means of post-release fixing anything, they made damn sure that everything works in the game as intended. And that they provide enough content so that it is worth the price. Nowadays? You extend your overpriced movies for extra money, what the hell is wrong with people?

Oh yes they truly are demons charging a fraction of the price for almost as much content as there was in the original, they should be hung for the this. No, they give you hours of extra content for a fraction of the price, they recorded stuff that could not be filmed at the time, epilogues and the such. So my question to you is, what the hell is wrong with you?

Nothing is wrong with him, his complaint is a valid one and naming it "DLC" only makes it worse as "DLC" has now become associated with the likes of EA.

It's interesting seeing people defending poor practices as it only gives companies the idea that it's "okay" to charge extra for a product
Making the extra 100 minutes of footage filmed after the initial release of the film an optional purchase is a poor practice?

As long as DLC is priced fairly and is actually good well produced content how can it be considered poor practice. If it is like Call of Duty where they charge about £15 for about 4 new maps then that is poor practice, if two people put effort into it and release it at a fraction of a price for almost the same amount of content then why should you complain? It is practically a cheaper sequel.

As long as DLC isn't unfairly priced, made during the development of the original product and isn't released on day one then it is not a poor practice.

Points of view. In my case, I got IGTM from Humble Bundle for like 1$ with a bunch of other games. I really enjoyed the movie, and I think 5 € more is not much for a DLC of extra content like this. They could have put it on store as IGTM 2... most of the people is just get used to the bad DLC practices, but this is not that case.. Also it's become a fashion to complain about DLC's or Phil Fish all the time.

I have no problems with their actions whatsoever.

Calling something a DLC doesn't make it bad. You have to look at what you get for your bucks. And rest asured, the Special Edition of IGTM is not a horse armor. It's a lot of stuff that you will like if you liked the movie. Plus you don't miss anything out in the original if you don't buy the DLC. It's not like Phil Fish's voice only plays when you buy a "Phil Fish Voice DLC".

Again, what's your point? When buying IGTM you get a full stand-alone documentary (and extras) for a fairly normal price. Where the heck is something "not working" and needs to be "fixed"? It is a complete product. What you say makes no sense at all.

That's what I think when I read your post. Have you even seen the movie and/or the DLC? Or do you just see that a MOVIE has a DLC and did that make you angry?

It was actually this, but I think I've received enough counter-arguments to lay down instead.
Since people are still talking about it...

Y'know how "Special Edition" DVDs have a second disc with more extras than are on the main feature disc?

This DLC is that disc. Some of us like watching those extras. If you don't, then you can just get the main feature version. ...or neither, if you so choose. Making it available as a separate DLC purchase is actually something they can do better than physical movie retailers, as now those of us who got the standard edition can pick up the special edition content without buying a whole other copy of the movie.

Unlike $15 map packs, this is actually a reasonable use of the DLC system.

I'd buy a map pack over paying for this 4gb movie any day.

Interesting. I, too, tend to confess some of the horrible aspects of my personality to others in the Steam community.
If there's anything that I'm surprised about that people throw money at it, it's emoticons and skin packs.

Ok... eh... cool?
Would it be the other way round if the movie was 8GB?

i dont mind it personally. I loved this movie and liked hearing from Team Meat and learning about everyone developing more.
