me personally, 30 days, 45 days 90 days 160 days and about 50 or so other characters that i made that had 1-10 days

been playing sense launch, but sadly i played the most on the test server and as far as i know, my best characters got wiped.

I haven't really played in a long time, but previously I played from 1999 to until 2004. I would put the amount of time I spent playing in the hundreds or even thousands of hours.

I have a level 21 from 1999 that took 22 days.

38 hours and so far since starting this week this game has been nothing but making me want to start drinking. I like the game outside of the fact that the quests are vague and cryptic and the fact that the community I've seen so far is comprised of Leroy Jenkins wannabes and elitist ♥♥♥♥♥ that tell me I should solo everything, buy a subscription or get the ♥♥♥♥ out. At least it's not Flexibile Survival though, I can give this game that much.

all honesty, i suggest you spend 5$ to get silver, at least if you make it to level 60

now, because of how not forward thinking everquest was, they screwed up the low and mid levels, and only develop for the high ones and when they try to bandaid the low levels, they screw it up too.

here is what you need to know

tutorial to level 10
cressent reach to level 20
blightfire mores till level 30
city of mist till you get board of it (level 45+)
swim till you have 80~ skill
go to veksar till 55 ish
jump into the hole

there you go, a level 1-71 guide that works for almost every class.
i suggest mage or shadowknight, just because i know what they are like at the high end and they can be fairly forgiveing.

basicly, level 1-80 are solo for the most part because no one plays those levels, they are all looking for a powerlevel or are ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ around on an alt, that said, once you hit 80, the game stops sucking for every class... there was a 7 expantion lull where they refused to make group gear better, but still made group content harder and harder, now that no one groups, you can probably see a majot problem cropping up.

you can probably hit level 80 in plane of fire, it will be slow towrd the end, but its probably going to be the least annoying place to do it in.

now as for the people who decide to lerroy things, thats because of damage shields, at level 25 you can buy one where anything that hits you takes 30 dmg, and the ds will most likely out dps your character by a wide margin, and so long as you dont die, the more mobs hitting you the better.

I'm unable to even make it past level twelve because of how the early game is and have considered purchasing silver membership just for better mercenaries.

Do you mean grinding against the mobs in the game or completing the quests? Some people have suggested I forgo questing and just grind and despite the fact that such a thought depresses me I am inclined to do so.

I'm inclined to go with Wizard as I'm used to playing DD/glass cannon characters in MMORPGs and MUDs alike, but I'm willing to give Magician a shot if I can somehow remember that I'll be needing material reagents right out of the box the next time I try one.

Hence why I'm playing this only until World of Darkness Online and/or Elder Scrolls Online comes out. Everquest is another reason why I don't trust anything with the name "Sony" attached, outside of their headphones that is. They make some pretty damn good headphones, I'll give them that.

Fitting for a game that is worst hell. If Everquest had furry cybersex then I'd really start drinking.

I've seen a level 9 Iskar Necromancer played by some jerkoff in high school do this, which is why I was complaining about such problems. I had to save his ass with O'Keil's Embers before having to get the hell out of dodge.

I thank you for your help. Here's to me maybe not uninstalling the game a third time this month.

ok, that origional quest line, the heros quest or something, is great if you want to play it, i wont knock it there, but its mainly a way for new players and old ones who are board of the grind to level up in a new way. its not nessassary, but if you want to do it it may be fun.

now, personally i wouldnt suggest a wizzard just because of they have mana issues at the low game and it may be a bit slow to play up. with the mage and pets, you really only need to get 20 of the malachite, and ask people in the guild lobby for spectral armor packs and first of ixbal (sp) and that will basicly hand you the ability yo powerlevel yourself.

wizzards will put out more dps than mages, hell even necros can (and can probably solo allot better too past 65) but mages get pets, and their pets can tank mobs easily through house of thuel, and even in house, can tank the t1 and 2 names.i never did the progression for tier 3 and 4 so i cant say first hand how good the perts tank, but i can say that i saw a mage deal with tier 4 mobs too.
