Druid Spell: Nature's Calm

The description says this spell calms all creatures in an area around your target. Does it calm the target too? I have been using "Nature's Placidity", which is a single target Calm Spell, directed at the creature you wnat to calm. In this case are they suggesting you Target the Creature you want to pull, and everything around it will be calmed?

yes sir, the target and all things within a certain range around it.

I tried it today for the 1st time and it failed! Had to hit "Exodus"!
