S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Clear Sky

S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Clear Sky

Is it worth the money?
Im thinking about buying the game but I want some feedback on how the game is and which one is the best one in the series. It would be nice to hear what you think about the game since none of my friends have ever playd a singel S.T.A.L.K.E.R game

It really depends. Some people love it, others don't. If your new to the series, definitly start with Shadow of Chernobyl before moving onto Clear Sky.

You might enjoy it if you enjoyed Open World FPSs like Fallout 3 or Fallout NV.

I dunno. I only play multiplayer now.

Shadow of Chernobyl is good. Call of Pripyat is good. This one, I would love to scrub all knowledge of it from my brain. It was so unbelievably bad that I panicked and almost didn't play the third one. But after reading on the internet about the 3 Stalker titles, it was clear that only the second one was really really awful. Its so awful in fact, that I can't even understand the high metacritic score and lack of rage on this forum. I only came here because I saw the sale, and wanted to see if there was any funny posts made against this game. Instead I find, not a single one. Not good.

Why was it awful? MISSIONS SOLVED THEMSELVES. You never even had to play the game. You could just stare at a tree all game long, and watch the game win it for you.

You see, this game has a dynamic system where you might be given a mission to help take out a tiny outpost here, or defend one there, or rescue some guys on the road nearby... things like that. Those are side missions, and they are bad. Because you could get near one, and before you can do anything to help out you'll get a "mission failed" warning. Or worse, "mission cancelled". Why? I don't know. I once got a mission to help out some guys that were literally in sight when I received the mission. Before I walked 20 feet in their direction, the mission cancelled. This repeated over, and over, and over.... I'd get half a dozen mission requests EVERY MINUTE. 95% of them you can't complete or even participate in, even those you think you would be able to.

But those are side missions. What about the main missions? Bad luck.... those can be won or lost by the AI without you being involved as well! The first one (I think it was to liberate an oil refinery?), if you run to it at the very first opportunity, you'll make it before the AI does anything... but you'll lose because you don't even have the gear you need yet. If you spend half an hour getting prepared, picking up a little cash to afford more than a pistol and a shirt, the AI solves it for you.

I even tried playing past that, and moved on to the next level / area, but the problem repeated itself: get a mission, watch the AI achieve it. And the next area had 3 or so main story objectives, so I got the opportunity to watch the AI solve all of it, without me even lifting a finger.

So... TL;DR version: its a very bad game because it plays itself. "You" are completely irrelevant. You'll have just as much fun in this game if you DON'T play it.

Clear Sky is the best game out of 3 gameplay wise. Casuals, kill yourselves!

I've only played Clear Sky and it's pretty fun, can assume the others are as well.

CS can be a buggy mess. Install a mod and it should help all sorts of issues. I personally use Complete mod. People look down on it but i personally enjoy it. Fixed many bugs for me.

It's a fun game, it can be glitchy at times but the game is still enjoyable.
