ps3 controller not working

okay, on linux mint, i tried big picture mode (apart from the resolution being a bit odd) it worked perfect. so, i tried a ps3 controller (through bluetooth) and it didn't seem to even register it. last time i tried something like this, it showed the ps controller icons (like, press X to start)

why is this happening and can it be fixed?

Sorry, didn't notice you were using Linux. Did you try verifying if you have a working Bluetooth driver for your PS3 controller on your distro?

Well, i was testing a few other games, and the ones I tested did work with bt
