Controls show XBox layout on PC

Playing on Windows - I'm really trying to love this game but the control layout is showing that I've got an XBox controller and all the tips tell me which "button" to use. I need it to know I'm on keyboard and mouse! What's up?

Just turn off your XBox controller and it will return to displaying the keys instead :)

Uh... OK? You could try going to the options/controls menu and using the left/right arrows to switch to keyboard/mouse. No idea if that makes a difference though...

It shows this because its a xbox port like most of the games on here.

Actually... no. It displays the correct keys for me. It's a multi-platform game, yes... but the native key bindings are there.

crowndude, are you playing the demo? You see controller hints all the time, or are they flickering once for a while?

It's the demo. I know what you're saying: the controller hints show all the time -- I have seen the flickering once in awhile but overall the hints are constantly incorrect and not flickering.

It's fixed itself. I don't know if it's because I unplugged my joystick (MS Sidewinder) or because I had Steam verify the files. Either way (or whatever) it's fixed.

Leaving any type of controller will result in Xbox icons to show on-screen. This is how alot of games are now. Fairly lame as a simple coding could detect the devices. But no it just assumes any controller (such as Joystick, Steering Wheel, etc.) is an Xbox360 Controller. Lame! And unplugging after game launch doesn't always fix the issue in all games. It does in games like Metro: LL, but not sure about this one. So yea if u do not intend to use any 3rd party controller in-game, unplug before game launch.

Gah! I have the same problem, 1st 4 hours everything worked fine. The next session the controller icons flickered and hey presto - xbox controller icons... which makes it almost unplayable imo. I suspect it detected my wacom but it's a cintiq and my only screen so... wtf, microsoft, shove ur controller where the sun don't shine. (I hate controllers...)
I have no idea what to do to fix it, I guess I'll try to repair via steam and uninstall any controller drivers.

Hey Hemlock, you just have to make sure no joysticks or other controllers are connected when you start this game.

I don't have. Every other time it's fine but if I use any of the buttons on the Cintiq it's ruined until I restart.

I wish we just can shot down controllers in the menu like other games and when this is not able as an option i use to copy a .dll in the roots of the game and it works but not this time!

Any dev still around here that might help me working my .dll ?
