Reset Rank?
Is there any way to reset ones rank all the way back to bronze or whatever it is the lowest rank is? I'm coming back after taking a year and a half break or so and I really can't learn anything off bots nor am I having much luck trying to pick things up again in matches. Considering my long break, I've not the practice to do much in silver besides get steamrolled.

Your prestige level has zero bearing on anything, gameplay wise. Bots in bot matches only fight as well as their AI setting allows. Matchmaking isn't based on prestige, but rather your league which is determined by your leaderboard ranking.

I don't believe I have any prestige.. I have a silver 8, so I assumed I would be getting matched around that. It has been a while since I played so I don't remember how far that even is.

LOL this game has 300-400 people playing at any given time world wide. Your being placed with whom ever is playing the game.

The prestige is the thing left your name when you press tab, there you will see your prestige

You have been out long enough that your rank reset on its own you cant do it yourself but you should be at the bottom anyways. If for some strange reason yours didnt reset there is a reset in 5 days.
Do some easy bot match first and learn the new nauts before you fight them.

League 8 is really low. Anyway, if you lose a lot then you'll drop down further as necessary, until you hit the true bottom (which I think is league 9?). You should just play as you are already doing, and not worry about any resetting. Take whatever losses you get as practice sessions and let your rank continue to drop until it catches up with your skill level. (But it's probably already about as low as it needs to be anyway.)

If you're being placed with overly skilled opponents then it may be more because of the small size of the community than because your rank is wrong. Resetting wouldn't help with that.

Also, I think you would have been reset anyway, during that year and a half you spent away?

If you start to become discouraged by thoughts about how there are too few players around at your skill level, then remember that a new matchmaking system is coming out soon, and that that will probably alter the situation for better or for worse, so sticking around to see how that works out may be wise.

For what it's worth though, I think you CAN have two different rankings simultaneously by making a secondary Steam name that's still part of your current account (and that therefore has access to all your purchased games). You can maybe use that to allow yourself to get good at one character while you play around with others, for instance... if that's something that interests you. (The ranking system annoyingly does not take account of what character you're using, so people are encouraged to either learn ALL characters simultaneously, or stay with one and only one character, rather than more naturally branching from one to another over a long period of time.)
