On the plus side, if you enjoyed MP1 and MP2 I think you'll find the gameplay really gratifying. Using cover, the weapon system changes and the 360 degree shooting are top notch. And because this isn't no open-world game all the little details have so much more interest to the player, especially how Max will react to the surroundings. Instead of the Doom/Quake/Wolfenstein method of a giant arsenal you now can hold two one-handed weapons along with a two-handed gun (or dual-wield the two one-handed guns, which drops your two-handed gun). Health system is also improved with a last-stand kill, which uses up a painkiller to give you a last chance to recover health.
I had an average of 200 to 800 kB/s speed that took me about 19 hours to download. I figured I'd share that to let you compare how long it might take for you to download it. You only have to activate the product to play the single-player, then you can just sign-in to play even offline (like Windows Live). If there is any other mode you might consider playing it's the two-man horde mode. Otherwise, the multiplayer is pretty barren.
Don't know what more you want for that price.
Dude, 8 hours is pathetic. My internet is 0.5 Mbps with download speeds as high as 60KBps. This means it's gonna take 140 ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ hours to download this game. If I'm going to get 8 hours of single player and am completely disinterested in multiplayer, then I'm sorry but I think I'll let this one slide.
I am sure you enjoyed the game but the money and time involved is too great of a sacrifice.
Thanks for your recommendation though.
It's not just the money. It's the fact that I have to download 30 GB of stuff for some single player worth around 8 hours with a story that's not ground breaking. If it was Last of Us level quality, I'd have thought about it. And I am completely disinterested in multiplayer.
So I think I'll skip this game permanently. Thanks guys for your suggestions though!
Oh man thanks I was looking for the 20% voucher code for October from GMG, couldn't find it though, :D
Well, considering how Max Payne 1 and 2 took about 6 to 7 hours each I'm not too bothered by it. I think 8 well worth hours are worth the wait. Oh well, it's all subjective.
If you are interested in the story here is a nicely put-together "movie" of the game. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZeaWBINtmVU
Is this spoilers then I take it? If so, I will shield my eyes until I actually play it, :D
Yes. :P
I do think the story is worth the price of admission. But I don't blame anyone not wanting to deal with waiting for 27 GBs.
In which case it might be time to emmigrate from my country. Because my plan is one of the best. :P
Or perhaps go with another Internet Service Provider (ISP) to get better download speeds?
I just recommend playing on the highest starting difficulty with free aim. Dying is part of the experience.
