Report a translation problem
This is a pretty basic move. I guess the game hints at it numerous times before the final bossfights (during the boat chase/shootout and the climax of the bus shootout). Heck, you can even simply recall those RPG deflection sequences (the one where you shoot rockets shot by enemies) and learn what happens to explosives when they're shot mid-air.

It's wave-based. Focus on eliminating each wave as optimal as possible. Between each wave, the boss launches a grenade, shoot it out.
As you eliminate each wave, move further to the left side of cover and after killing off the last few goons, you'll win that fight.
