Gamepad not recognised
I play platform games with my 360 controller. When the game starts, I can skip the first opening credits with the A-button on my controller, but as soon as I end up in the main menu, it no longer sees my controller. In the controls config I also can't switch to gamepad controls.
This occurs with the demo and it's stopping me from buying the full game. Is there any way to fix this?

The game does not support a controller. The way it is played, you really need to use a mouse and keyboard.

this game doesnt use gamepad (to shoot somebody you neet to have them aimed with mouse, and you cant aim that same with controler and auto lock is way owerpowered) so they said they probably wont use controlers!

You don't realise this game is heavily inspired by console action platformers like shadow complex and hell yeah? Heck, try Rocket Riot, TSE's multiplayer is nearly identical. Where you move with the left stick and the right stick lets you aim 360 degrees, no auto-lock needed, ever. This game begs to be played with a controller.

I love Shadow Complex, but this game does not play like that (you can't just hold your right stick in a direction and be able to hit people). In Showdown when using guns you have to have your aimer right on the person to hit them. If you aim in front of an enemy or behind him, your shots will miss. You have to keep the reticule on the person the entire time, as they are dodging, jumping, sliding, etc. Watch a youtube video and you will see what I am talking about.

I use my xbox controller on a lot of games, but if you want to stand a chance against other players using a M&K then you have to use one too. Otherwise it will be like trying to play Counter Strike or Unreal Tourney with a controller while everyone else is rocking mouse and key.

Every game with request for gamepad controls has these pricks starting arguments about keyboards being better. Guess what? It gets implemented anyway and almost always turns out to be the best way to play a platformer. If you don't care about gamepad controls, why do you even look at this topic? Just to start a fight?

*edit* UTeightohfive, you posted at nearly the same time as I did, apologies :)
You are making a well informed argument there, doesn't happen often in these kind of topics. Because they are usually wrong, but your explanation makes sense. I guess Ill skip this game then, thanks :)

Well let the "prick" answer you, You wanna try play games like cs go and similar with controler? you cant same is here where you need to aim. This game cant use controler ergo it would ruin it for evryone who plays it over PC and mouse. And also develpoers did gave offical statement on this. Resarch about a game this game is imposible to play with controler.
This is not a platform game as far as I can see..

CS is a shooter, this game is a platformer. The non prick is better at making arguments than you.

Also, claiming "the developers said it" but being completely incapable of finding an actual quote doesn't help your cause either. Be glad UTeightohfive came along and made a proper argument ;)

He is only lazy to do hard work of typing word "the showdown effect interview" for other lazy ones who cant even search the forums before they complain

Seems to me that you are the one making personal attacks and starting arguments. Chill out.

this has nothing to do with pricks telling you that K&M is better.... in this game it just IS. You don't aim in a general direction like most 2d shooters, you actually have to constantly keep the mouse on your target or you will never hit them... this would be simply impossible to work on a gamepad.

I just want to chime in here and say that the first video interview says that controller support was put on the back burner but will eventually be picked back up to see how they can make it work.. So someone wants to play with a controller.. So what if it makes them a worse player than you. There is no guarantee that just because they're using a mouse that they will be able to aim better. Maybe it would make them better at platforming than the "mouse aimers" and then they could compete on a different level there. No one is going ot take away your keyboard and mouse, so you can stop being jerks.
BerserkSmiley 7/mar./2013 às 1:09
Will wait for controller support.
veloxxity 7/mar./2013 às 2:40
To me, the only reason for a controller support is a splitscreen mode.

It would be awesome to play a local multiplayer match when everyone has a controller.
I always keep in mind that there will be a Steambox... so they would be well adviced to include splitscreen and controller support :)
