Is there ANY hint on how to get into the statue in the fairy realm?

I just finished the fairy realm chapter, and it's the first one where I had to use a guide quite a bit. Usually the game gives you enough hints, but I can't remember any hint that said you have to make the hermit turn to west in summer. I can't remember any of the characters you can talk to saying anything about it either. Only the guard will mention that you can enter it and that it is currently being painted inside.

Or is there a hint and did I just miss it? I'm curious, because I don't know whether this was intentional or an overlooked design flaw, or a mistake on my part.

I'm up to the same spot as you. I didn't catch a hint either. I discovered the path to the birdman just by trying to confuse the peacock.

the peacock tells you that he listenes to the hermit to know which wind direction (and thus time of the day) it is - he tells you that the sun rises in the east at summer and in west (i think?) in the winter. i think it was the peacock too who said that the painters are in the big head >at the moment< so later the day (in summer - west - because the sun sets in the west) they are gone and you can enter it. :) don't forget -> wind direction = time of the day
you use the same trick to get the "paintbrush" :)

The peacock and the guard seemed to give me enough information for the seasons and times etc - I felt there was no hint about using the waterfall to make things bigger or smaller (apart from visually having to guess -_-)

the waterfall would have been much more obvious had I immediately realised I could walk up to the top.

But were there any clues that it has to be SUMMER? Just because I figured something like this would be the solution, and made nighttime in winter, but nothing happened. -.-' I am so disappointed now, I really would have loved to complete this game without the hint sístem....
