Local Co-Op needs two controllers?

How can I play local co-op? I have one xbox controller and the keyboard - is it not possible to have one player use the keyboard and another player use the controller? or two players using different keys on the keyboard?

Must I purchase/attach an additional controller in order to play the game locally?

I don't see why you can't use a controller and keyboard... you just need to press start on the controller when you select play, don't you?

At the main screen, if you press ENTER - keyboard mode is enabled. If you press START on the controller, only controller mode is enabled. Idiotic that I can't even use ESC key on my keyboard or use the mouse to make selections while I'm using a controller.

Ah, I didn't realise they were separate modes. If keyboard is disabled in controller mode and vice versa, you'll need more controllers. That seems pretty daft if you ask me, surely it can't be that hard to allow both, Codemasters?

And btw mouse input has been disabled on every single Codemasters release I've ever seen. Codemasters design their games for consoles first and foremost.
