DirectX encountered an unrecoverable error on launch
When I try to launch Black Ops 2 is comes up with "DirectX encountered an unrecoverable error. Check the readme for possible solutions". I've manually installed the DirectX and vcredist and verified the cashe, then restarted and still no luck. I also cant find the readme that the error talks about. Does anyone know how to fix this issue? I have updated my video card drivers as well.

Try theses here:
- Verify your cache
- Make sure no other background programs(like anti-virus) are running, you might need to temporary remove them.
- Re-install your graphics driver
- LAST STEP IF ABOVE DON'T WORK: Re-install BLOPS 2 (I know, sucks D:)

Yeah... and when none of that works it's time to tell steam and Activision to stuff it.

Silly question but you are running atleast Vista or Win7? Since BO2 apperently doesn't support XP and this is due to updated (i.e no longer old ass DX9) DirectX features.

Running Windows 7 64 bit, I've tried all of the above except a reinstall of BO2 so that's happening now

I'm having the same problem. I have a picture of the error here http://s8.postimage.org/a417wsuh1/Direct_X_Error.jpg

All other Steam games work fine including Black Ops 1 and MW3

Ok. I've managed to fix the problem by completely uninstalling my video drivers once more, restarting and updating to the latest video card drivers. Hope this will also help you Joshafool

I have removed every trace of Nvidias drivers and installed new ones (did not work) Deleted all Black Ops 2 files and re-downloading now.

okey silly question number 2 but someone got to ask this. You got a graphics card that supports DX10/11? just trying to rule out hardware errors since reinstalling drivers etc. doesn't seem to work for you.

Same here. I've tried the following:
1. Verify cache file;
2. Re-installed graphic card drivers;
3. Re-installed BO 2
There is a pacth on the go shortly.

I tried everything here and still not working. I am very disapointed. Spent $60 on a game that doesn't work. FIX THIS!
