XBOX CONTROLLER WON'T WORK

I want to use my usb xbox controller for this game and when i go into the game options i select the xbox controller with layout 2 for my main controller then it tells you to hit ESC to go back and doesnt give you any other options but then when you go back and then check the controller layout again it has defaulted itself back to the keyboard. if i try to race i have to use the keyboard. is there a way of fixing this so i can use my xbox controller. i have even tried using xpadder but that didnt work either

Don't pay attention to what it defaults to in the menu; it will always show the keyboard controls first.
This game changes controls on the fly, i.e if you press a key on the keyboard it will instantly switch to keyboard controls, and if you press a button on your controller it will instantly switch to your controller (changing the icon prompts).
You don't have to enable or disable anything in the menus for either to work properly at any time.

Sounds like, if Xpadder isn't even working, it's a problem with the controller.
Have you made sure the xbox 360 controller drivers are installed properly?

I have the same problem. Can control all the menu's with the controller, but in the race nothing happens.

same here. 360 controller is dead ingame.

Works fine for me and I didn't touch anything in the menu's.
Soon as I installed the game I hit 'A' on my controler and was in and racing.
Try uninstalling the game and re-installing it with your controller plugged in.
